Recall Roundup Feb 2: Break line failures, deadly infant sleepers, pepperoni

Despite clear evidence inclined sleepers pose a safety risk to sleeping babies, they are still on the market. Some more were recalled this week. Also, utility vehicles that may not stop, numerous food recalls for undeclared allergens. Stop using or do not eat, and then return the below recalled items.
PRODUCT RECALLS
Pier 1 is recalling 6,000 desk chairs after accounts that the chair legs can break. 29 consumers have reported their chair legs breaking, leading to one minor back injury. You should stop using immediately and contact Pier 1 to send you a repair kit, with shipping included.

K-Apparel Children’s Lounge Pants
K-Apparel has recalled 2,200 children’s lounge pants that don’t meet flammability standards for children’s sleepwear. Under these standards, sleepwear must be snug-fitting or flame resistant. While no incidents have been reported so far, parents should take the sleepwear away and contact K-Apparel for a refund. K-Apparel is also taking steps to notify all known purchasers.

Polaris Pro XD Utility Vehicles
760 of the Polaris Pro XD Utility Vehicles were recalled this week after reports that the rear brake line can become punctured, causing the rear brakes to fail. There have been eight accounts of rear brake failures so far, but no crashes, injuries or deaths. The UTVs were sold at Polaris dealerships nationwide.

Polaris Brutus Utility Vehicles
340 of the Polaris Brutus Utility Vehicles have been recalled after reports that the rear brake line can become punctured, causing the rear brakes to fail. There has been one report of the rear brake line rupturing while the vehicle was in use. The UTVs were sold at Polaris dealerships nationwide.

522 Bobcat Utility Vehicles have been recalled for faulty brake lines that can become punctured and lead to rear brake failures. No incidents have been reported, but if you own one you should stop using it immediately and contact Bobcat to schedule a free inspection and repair.

Inclined Infant Sleepers
Inclined infant sleepers are still being recalled after years of reporting and research has revealed they are unsafe for infant use. These products fail to meet the safe sleep guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). If you own any version of an inclined sleeper, you should stop using it immediately, remove it from your home or child care facility, and seek a refund from the appropriate manufacturer.

FOOD RECALLS
Astrochef Pepperoni Stuffed Pizza Sandwiches
A Texas company is recalling over 7,000 pounds of pepperoni stuffed sandwich products because of the undeclared presence of soy, a known allergen. The products are labeled as pepperoni stuffed pizza sandwiches but could contain meatball stuffed pizza sandwiches.
The recall was prompted by consumer complaints made to the firm. There have been no confirmed adverse reactions. USDA is concerned that these products could still be in consumers freezers and encouraged consumers to throw them away immediately.
Bakkavor Foods Mushroom Barley Soup
Bakkavor Foods is recalling 840 units of Fresh Food Market Mushroom Barley Soup sold at Harris Teeter. The product is being recalled because of the undeclared presence of milk, a known allergen. The issue was discovered by a Harris Teeter employee.
Products were distributed in Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Washington DC at Harris Teeter stores.
A Wisconsin company is recalling Goulash because of the undeclared presence of milk. The product was distributed throughout Wisconsin and northern Illinois. No illnesses have been reported.
Salud Natural Entrepreneur Nopalina Flax Seed Fiber Powder and Capsules
Salud Natural Entrepreneur is recalling flax seed fiber power and capsules because of potential contamination with Salmonella. Salmonella can cause dangerous and sometimes fatal illness, especially in children or seniors.
The products were distributed throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. The recall is being issued because FDA testing of the senna leaves powder in the product revealed the powder was contaminated with Salmonella
