GM recall repairs lead to new problems
By Adam Garber
At the end of 2019, 550,000 GM vehicles were recalled because potential software issues could disable the anti-locking brake system. According to the Detroit Free-Press, the fix over-corrected the problem making it even harder to break the repaired vehicle.
While GM only recently began fixing the recalled vehicles, they’ve already had to issue a new recall. The initial fix could cause breaks to activate even when not needed. That poses a major safety risk to everyone on the road.
Already 160,000 GM customers have had the initial fix made to their car. Now the question is can GM get everyone back in for a second fix. Those who haven’t had their car fixed from the initial recall can rest easy--they’ll only get the new fix.
The original recall covers the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Cadillac CT6, and GMC Sierra 1500 were all recalled in the original campaign.
